Maritime and Mercantile International LLC (MMI), in Dubai traces it
roots back to 1890, trading out of Bahrain as Gray Paul, long before
companies were established in what is now the UAE. Originally well
known as a trading, shipping and port management company, MMI
today still has its heart in trading businesses, with its trading
division specializing in food and beverages. The division has evolved
into a well-respected, trusted and modern supply chain
management, marketing & services company based in Dubai, with
operations in seven distinct areas.
MMI was currently on the look out for a Route Accounting system for
their distribution division to complement their Sage CS3 ERP.
The need to automate and provide a better control on the operations
of distribution gave rise to the requirement.
A hand held based system catering to the needs of the Van Sales
division incorporating functionalities such as:

and the implementation / enforcement of the business rules of the
organization was the need of the day.
The proposed system however is to be completely integrated with
the back end ERP system being implemented by MMI.
The flexibility of the solution to meet the expectations of the end users as well as simultaneously
ensuring the controls required to be implemented on the field was the core requirements of the
organization.
Vxceed was the only single vendor to propose for an entire Route Accounting solution to the
organization on a purely Microsoft Platform. The system being implemented is designed using a
Microsoft Win CE SQL database on the Hand Held as well as a SQL server at the back office for a
better management, security as well as and synchronization of the information on the hand held.

businesses such as Consumer Distribution, Liquor Retailing, Travel Industry, Warehousing / logistics apart from
Information technology.
The expansion of the distribution business as well as the controls required to be maintained on the field gave rise to
the requirements of the project.
Vxceed proposed a Hand held solution on Symbol 8100 with “ONeil 8i” Printers on the Vans, on Windows CE platform with
Win CE SQL database on the hand held Equipment itself. The base system so being proposed is also on a Microsoft Platform using
MS-SQL database.
